The Dead Strip/Reed Switch Cable connects the LaneMaster 25-pin output port to 8 RCA plugs plus 2 other wires, used to control your relay setup. Mount an RCA plug-in strip (available separately or from Radio Shack) to your track and wire it directly to the lanes. This allows you to plug and unplug each lane easily. Also, you can buy extra cables to hook up multiple tracks to the same computer.
This kit offers the ultimate in convenience and
precision for slot-car racing!! With it, you avoid the drawbacks of both Dead Strips
(power interruption) and Reed Switches ('switch bounce' and inability to 'pick-up' certain
kinds of cars with weaker magnets). And with our specially selected "ordinary
light" phototransistors, it does not require a light bar in most
cases!!
The Phototransistor setup consists of one control
unit, with a standard RS-232 (25-pin) Male connector, so you can connect it directly to
the LaneMaster board using a standard RS-232 Male-Female cable, available at any computer
store or directly from Scale Auto. It also features 2 screw terminals for
controlling your power relays, a power outlet for a Lightbar (if you do feel that it is
necessary for your track - also available, separately), and connections to take advantage
of the Remote Track Call Switch feature of LaneMaster. The high-quality
phototransistor sensors are mounted on flexible cables to accommodate even wide distances
between your lanes.
