LaneMaster Manual Practice Mode

Manual Table of Contents  |  LaneMaster Home Page

LaneMaster's 'normal' (default) state is Practice mode. When the program first starts, just press "Enter" (Since 'Practice is already highlighted) if you wish to switch to Output view and enter Practice mode. In Output View under Practice Mode, lap times and best times are displayed by lane. A new Best Time on any lane will result in a beep, so if you are using LaneMaster alone, you can tell if you are improving. To reset all the values on any lane to "0", press the number (1-8) of that lane. To exit Output View, press the space bar. Remember, exiting will reset results on all lanes to "0".

While in Data View under Practice mode, you can easily change any settings or save or load your track setup, by using the main menu. Just click on "File" or Edit", then the file action or setting of your choice. To enter Race, Qualifying, Event or Round Robin mode, just click on the desired button, or "Mode" on the menu.

Entering Racer Names

There are several ways to put the Racers' names into their desired lanes while in Data View.

Method 1:

Press any number on your keyboard from 1 to 8 (or 1 to 2, 1 to 4, or 1 to 6 if you are set for 2, 4 or 6 lanes, respectively). This will bring up a small window showing the name currently entered (if any) for that lane. Type the new name and press enter or click "OK", and the new name will placed into that lane. If you click "Delete" the old name will be removed. If you click "Cancel" it will leave the old name as it was.

Method 2:

Use your mouse to click on the box where the driver's name is displayed for any lane. This brings up the same dialog box as mentioned in Method 1.

Method 3:

Click on the "Race" button. After selecting the desired lane, you can either type the name into the box at the top of the screen, or you can click on the down arrow next to the box to show a list of all the racers that have ever raced on your track. If you do not have a mouse, you can hold "Alt." and press "D" to get to the box, and then hold "Alt." + press the down arrow key to show the list of names. Once you have expanded the list, you can either use the down arrow key to scan the list one-at-a-time or you can press the first letter of the drivers first name to skip immediately to the names beginning with that letter. (Note that all name lists in LaneMaster are sorted by each person's FIRST name, then last name.) Once you have highlighted the desired name, press "Enter" and the name will be copied into the lane that you selected earlier. When you press the "OK" button, LaneMaster will enter Race Mode, but if you then press "Cancel" it will take you back to Practice Mode, and all the names you just selected will still appear correctly in their selected lanes.
